HOW CAN I AVOID DAMAGING MY GEMSTONE JEWELLERY?
Remove your jewellery when doing any household cleaning, washing dishes, gardening and/or using chemicals such as bleach, detergents or any cleaning products as these chemicals will erode the finish and polish of all silver and gold jewellery, and may cause your stones to appear dull or may damage and scratch them.
HOW CAN I STORE MY JEWELLERY?
Store your jewellery in a cool, dry place and somewhere it won’t be easily scratched, preferably in its Elverd Design ring box or earring bag separated from other pieces. Do not leave in the bottom of your handbag or a box with coins and other bits, I will be heartbroken.. And so might you after it has taken a bashing in there. Even the good old snap lock bag can come in handy to separate pieces for traveling or use a travel jewellery roll.
HOW CAN I CLEAN MY JEWELLERY?
Silver‐cleaning cloths may be used to polish silver and gold from time to time. Rhodium and gold plating on jewellery will eventually wear off. I don’t recommend these cleaning cloths be used too often, as they will remove this coating quicker.
For fast and easy cleaning of your rings and gemstones, use a soft toothbrush with some liquid hand soap and water. Gently brush along the top and underneath the stones. Not too hard as you may dislodge stones, but in a gentle circular motion. Rinse well and pat dry with a towel or use a cool/warm hairdryer. This will take about 30 seconds and your stone will sparkle like new again!
HOW OFTEN DO I CLEAN MY JEWELLERY?
I recommend cleaning your rings often, especially if they are worn regularly as the stones may appear dull quite quickly. You will be surprised that even after a few days of wear, perspiration, dust, pollution and hand creams will cause dulling of your stones and jewellery.
HANDLE WITH CARE
If you drop your jewellery on the floor or knock it hard against a surface, it may cause gemstones to become loose in the setting, or break one or more of the prongs holding your gemstone in place. A knock or drop may even crack or chip your gemstones. Even a diamond can chip if hit with enough force or at just the right angle. Avoid hot temperatures and direct sunlight. Heat and sunlight may cause some gemstones to fade.
